Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce

2017 “Chairs” Award

Past Chair Tonya King presents the "2017 Chair's Award" to the Council of Alnwick/Haldimand, with a special nod to Chamber Representative Councillor Sherry Gibson.

The "Chair's Award" recognizes an individual, business, group or organization that has made a significant contribution to the Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce, and supports us in fulfilling our mandate of being the voice of business.

Chairs Award 2017The Council of Alnwick/Haldimand shares the Chamber's commitment to the business community, recognizes the importance of supporting existing businesses while attracting new commercial investment, is aware of the essential role agribusiness plays in the local economy, and supports the development of a rural based economy.  This is a new partnership for the Chamber, and we have every expectation that it will be as long-lasting and mutually beneficial as the relationships the NCCofC already enjoys with so many organizations.

  • Tonya King, Past Chair, Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce

In 2015, during our strategic planning exercises our Council and members of senior staff recognized there was an opportunity to improve economic development in the township. The plan was developed and the process has started. Thanks to members of Council, staff, the business people and local residents for their involvement and commitment to lead our community forward. A special thanks to Councillor Sherry Gibson for all her efforts as Economic Development Coordinator and Chamber Representative for our Council.

To be recognized by Past Chair Tonya King for the “Chairs Award” as an organization that has made a significant contribution and supports the mandate of the Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce is both humbling and something we will all take much pride of.

    John Logel, Mayor, Alnwick/Haldimand Township

TOWNSHIP OF ALNWICK/HALDIMAND

DEVELOPMENT OF AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY

COMMMUNITY TELEPHONE SURVEY

The Township of Alnwick/Haldimand has initiated a strategic planning process to develop a five year Economic Development Strategy that will inform Council decision making and provide direction to staff in terms of future economic development initiatives that will support the Township’s economic base.

The Township of Alnwick/Haldimand has hired MDB Insight, a professional economic development research firm based out of the City of Kingston, to administer a Community Telephone Survey from February 1, 2016 through February 22, 2016. Local residents will be asked questions that will help to identify a vision for economic development and prioritize economic development directions. The results of this survey will inform the Economic Development Strategy.

The Community Telephone Survey will be administered via Computer-Assisted-Telephone Interviewing (CATI) methodology among 150 randomly selected residents of the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand. In order to maintain randomness and ensure a statistically valid sample, not everyone in the community will be contacted. It should also be noted that eligible respondents must be 18 years of age or older.

In effort to achieve highly accurate results, residents are highly encouraged to participate if selected; however, participation is completely voluntary. Residents who are contacted by MDB Insight and express that they do not wish to participate in the survey, will be placed on a “do not call” list.

The public is also encouraged to follow along the process by visiting the Township website’s council portal or directing any questions to Robin van de Moosdyk at rvdm@ahtwp.ca or by phone 905-349-2822 Ext. 32.

The Economic Development Strategy is expected to be completed by April 2018.
